Are you struggling to cope or wondering if the way you're feeling is "normal"? Working with people during difficult times and life transitions is something I'm deeply passionate about; I want people to feel more connected and "normal." I aim to make you realize your power and feel more in control of your life. I'm trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Grief, and Trauma therapy. I utilize a wide range of other treatment methods as well including cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, family systems, and person-centered. I concentrate on creating an environment of acceptance and respect that is free of judgment.
I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University. I served eight years in the U.S. Army with a one-year deployment to Afghanistan, and I worked as a high school reading intervention teacher for five years.
My background as a high school teacher has given me much experience with the adolescent and young adult age group. My time with the military has offered me a worldly perspective and has made me acutely aware of the issues that veterans, frontline workers, and first responders may be dealing with.
